I am more of a visual thinker, so paintings, photographs and graphs help me understand and feel the world in a better way than words do.
Abhijeet Banerjee in his book "Good economics for hard times," has talked in reasonable length about migration.
There are migrants who according to him migrate because their home has become like "the mouth of a shark". By that he means war, communal violence, lack of opportunities due to corruption, dictatorial regime, a religious fundamentalist regime and so on. Most migrants fall in this category.
Then there are economic migrants, who have migrated for better opportunities and simply to earn more material wealth.
However, no matter what kind of migrant one is, no matter if they left to save their life or just to earn more wealth, one thing remains common for most ... that long stretched out shadow of nostalgia, which never ever leaves them.
